Community Arts Project to Dissolve

(Cornelius, N.C.) – The Community Arts Project (CAP), a non-profit serving the Lake Norman area through art experiences and education, will dissolve at the end of August 2014.  Diminishing contributed and earned income is the driving force in the organization dissolving.  “The board came to this decision after many months of careful consideration and unsuccessful fundraising efforts,” said CAP Board President Beverly Thomas.  “The organization cannot continue to operate without sufficient financial resources.  However, we are encouraged that, in comparison to the days of our founding, the Lake Norman community now has many options that put art within reach, including classes, exhibitions, and other programs.” Founded in 1999, CAP pursued a mission of putting “art within reach” by providing classes and mobile programming to students of all ages and skill levels.

The following classes will continue at CAP through Saturday, August 9, 2014:

  • All camps scheduled the week of July 28 – Aug.1
  • All camps scheduled the week of Aug. 4 – 8
  • Watercolor painting class
  • Oil Painting with Paul Keysar (to Aug. 12)
  • Figural Drawing on Aug. 2
  • Drop In Art on Aug. 1 and Aug 8

Classes at the Cornelius Arts Center will continue as scheduled through the month of August.  For questions regarding classes, call 704-896-8980.
